We just got back from the City of Lights Here's where we ate, and three places we visited that made the trip even more special:
EAT - Five Great Paris Restaurants:
Chez Monsieur - Classic French bistro in the heart of the 8th Arrondissemont. Near Palais de Elysée and Place Vendome.
L'Îlot Vache - A wonderful small restaurant, located on the Ile Saint-Louis. Near Notre Dame.
Le Frank - Located inside the Frank Gehry-designed Fondation Louis Vuitton in the Bois de Bologne. Behind the museum are public gardens to explore.
Les Mauvais Garcons - 4 rue des Mauvais Garcons - Smart, charming and centrally located to explore the Marais District after you dine.
What to See:
Eiffel Tower at night, close-up. We were pleasantly surprised how lovely it is to visit the parks around the iconic tower. Filled with people enjoying the light show.
Fondation Louis Vuitton - Rotating exhibits and beautiful architecture.
Chateau de Fontainebleau - A 50 minute train ride out of the city, followed by a bus ride (taxis are scarce) brings you to the gates of this spectacular 1,500 room palace. Fontainebleau was the residence of choice for Napoleon. You'll be able to see his apartments and bed.
We were there on Friday, completely uncrowded. Extensive gardens and lake in the rear are perfect for a post house walkabout. The town outside the gates has numerous cafes and restaurants to relaxed before your return to Paris. A really special place to see.
