    How to Explore Central Barcelona

The best way to explore central Barcelona’s historic center is on foot.  Begin in the Barri Gotic neighborhood where the immense La Catedral is located.  From there it's a short walk in any direction via narrow footpaths and alleys to the old neighborhoods of El Born and La Ribera and El Raval.

The Picasso Museum is located in the El Born area. La Mercat de la Boqueria is located along Las Ramblas - this is a popular place to experience Catalonian cuisine from the food vendors and stalls.

In the Eixample District are located two of Antonio Gaudi’s most famous buildings the cathedral La Sagrada Familia, and Casa Milas, also known as La Pedrera.

For an outdoor cafe there is the Plaza Reial or the bustling cafes of Las Ramblas, the city's famous pedestrian boulevard.  On nearby Montjuic there is a fortress called Castell de Montjuic, the Font Montjuic, art museums such as Palau Nacional Catalunya and the Joan Miro Museum. You'll also find here, the 1992 Olympic Stadium, and Mies van der Rohe's architecturally iconic Barcelona Pavilion.
