Museum of Fine Art, Houston
The elegant campus of the MFAH buildings hold a world-class collection of art from all periods and cultures, including Old Masters, antiquities, modern art and the decorative arts.
Houston Museum of Natural Science
From the anthropological to deep space, the science museum contains wonderful exhibits to explore and experience where we've been and most excitingly, where we can go in the universe.
Menil Collection
The Menil is home to a world-famous collection of contemporary art, as well as cultural artifacts from indigenous peoples encompassing Asia, Africa and the Americas. Don't miss their sublime Rothko Chapel and Cy Twombly pavilion. In 2017 the Menil Drawing Center will open, focusing on the importance of drawing to creating art.
Outdoors
Hermann Park
In the heart of the Museum District is Hermann Park with three major gardens of Japanese-designs, contemporary sculpture, and elegant rose plantings. There's also the open-air Miller Theatre, and the well-regarded Houston Zoo.
Memorial Park
Grab a bike and your walking shoes to explore the intense mountain bike trails of the park, and the serene lovely paths of its arboretum.
Buffalo Bayou Park
With paths that parallel the waterway, you can explore miles of trails and different neighborhoods that seem to spread endlessly along this brilliant public amenity.
