6 WONDERFUL CAFES IN CENTRAL MADRID

Madrid Spain

WHERE TO EAT IN MADRID'S HISTORIC CENTER

Palacio Real Madrid with Spain's country's flag.

WHERE TO EAT?... That's likely to come up on any vacation. For Madrid, we found six conveniently located spots to answer that question. From a casual neighborhood tapas bar for lunch, to cozy and contemporary dining options for the evening. For in between, we included two historic sweets shops to keep you fueled.

LAMIAK LA CAVA - Located in Historic Centro.
When we found Lamiak, it was the middle of the afternoon, nothing much else was open, and I think the outside temperature was about 175 degrees... Lamiak, just south of Plaza Mayor offers hearty rustic Basques pinxtos, wine, and refreshingly cold beer - a real gem.

LA MARUCA - Located in Salamanca District.
Step down into this bustling contemporary restaurant situated amongst the luxury shops and tree-lined streets of the chic Salamanca neighborhood. The great food came promptly, and the energetic space made for fun people watching.

LA TERRAZAS DEL THYSSEN - Paseo del Prado
The open-air terraces of the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza's cafe was just the ticket before we entered to see the world class art. Perfect for lunch, an afternoon drink or cappuccino.

MAMA CHICO - Located in the Chueca District.
Chic and small, Mama Chico's modern take on Spanish cuisine was one of our most memorable meals. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented.

SRA. SMITH - Plaza del Rey in Chueca District.
Located on relaxing Plaza del Rey is SRA. Smith - a lovely place for classic Spanish cuisine presented by a welcoming staff. The nearby bars on the plaza are great to chillout with an Aperol Spritz.

LAMUCCA - On Plaza del Carmen, near to Puerta Del Sol.
Order their signature black dough pizza as you sit under Lamucca's umbrellas overlooking Plaza del Carmen. Lamucca is easy for an afternoon lunch and stays busy into late evening.
