WHAT IS HUDSON YARDS:
Hudson Yards is a massive mixed-use development covering 18 acres on the west side of Manhattan, from Tenth Avenue to the Hudson River, and from 34th Street to 30th Street.

WHAT'S ON:

  • ATTRACTIONS
    At Hudson Yard's center is The Vessel, a ten-story tall, copper-clad sculpture that you can climb via intersecting staircases.  Admission to The Vessel is free.  You get timed-entry tickets nearby on the plaza.
  • Jutting out from the top of the 30 Hudson Yards office tower, at over 1,000ft/355m above the street is the Edge, the highest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere, complete with a glass floor.
  • The Shed is a multi-disciplined indoor/outdoor performance space, with a spectacular retracting outer-shell that rolls on enormous steel wheels (see below).
  • The Shops is a multi-story mall, anchored by the luxury department store Neiman Marcus.
  • On the second floor of The Shops is Snark Park, an inter-active art installation of activities.
  • There is the new Equinox Hotel, whose stay concept is wellness.

WHERE IS IT?
In Manhattan, where the High Line Park ends at 34th Street along the Hudson River.  It is two blocks south of the Jacob Javits Convention Center, and one block west of the new Penn Station.

FOOD at HUDSON YARDS:
  • Throughout the center are bars, cafes and fine dining including Estiatorio Milos, and Thomas Keller of Napa Valley fame.  Getting lots of buzz outside on the plaza is Mercado Little Spain, a large food hall with multiple kiosks, all organized by Chef Jose Andres.  

WHY SEE THIS PLACE?
Even by NYC standards, Hudson Yards is BIG.  So if you're in town for a convention, or coming off a stroll from the amazing High Line Park, you now have a wonderful entertaining experience waiting for you.
