HOW TO SEE ALL THE WORLD'S VERMEERS

Maps and Locations of all Vermeer's Paintings in the World.

Three colorful maps provide a complete view of where to see all of Johannes Vermeer's artworks.

About Johannes Vermeer Life

Vermeer was Dutch, lived from 1632-1675. Vermeer lived his life in the small town of Delft near to The Hague. He married Catherine Bolnes and had 15 children, four of whom died at birth.

History of Vermeer's Paintings

Vermeer famously produced only 37 paintings that we know of, and today two of those works are "attributed" to Vermeer. Interestingly, after his death, Vermeer's artwork became largely obscure for about two hundred years.

In the 20th century, wealthy American industrialists and financiers began actively buying his works, so that now fourteen of Vermeer's paintings are located in East Coast museum collections. One of those works has been missing since 1990, the result of a famous theft from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Another Vermeer at Washington DC's National Gallery has been reclassified as attributed to an associate of Vermeer.
